According to the original invoice #17028 dated November 23rd, 1964,
issued by Carron & Company. The pre-production Mustang, serial #5F08F100004, was Raven Black, and was shipped to the New York World’s Fair on April 1st, 1964. There were 12 pre-production Mustangs prepared by Carron & Company to be used with other Ford vehicles in which people would ride through the exhibits.
The Mustang remained at the World’s Fair from April - October 18th, 1964. During that time, it is estimated that more than 40,000 people rode in the car and it had travelled 5,000 miles around the track. After the World’s Fair was finished, all of the Mustangs were returned to Carron & Company to be refurbished and sold through Ford’s employee resale lot.
