1966 Mustang "ThunderHawk" Convertible
Owned by | Delonzo Rhyne
Deep in the heart of Indiana there is a cowboy. Make no mistake: I said Indiana and cowboy in the same sentence. Delonzo Rhyne is a gentle giant of a man in his early 70s with a smile and personality that will light up any crowded room. He is quite humble and bluntly honest with a passion and an enthusiasm for the Ford Mustang that is contagious.
In 1998, Delonzo came across a 1966 Mustang convertible that he was going to use to make a Shelby replica. In talking with some of his suppliers, he learned that there were problems in obtaining the Shelby emblems, so the project was delayed. Then one day at a Mustang Club of Indianapolis meeting, Delonzo and his friend Steve Schonegg were talking when a Pontiac Firebird went speeding by. When Delonzo got home he had an idea. He thought of a Predator...a Mustang that would prey on the other cars on the road. Thus the Thunderhawk was born.
If you know Delonzo, you know he either does it right or he just doesn't do it at all. Upon completion, and with the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office's approval of our request for a trademark of the name "ThunderHawk," he decided to build not one but ten of them. The ThunderHawk is a modified 1966 convertible.
